Slices is definitely on my pizza rotation. Very good pizza, great staff and one of the few places that offer pizza by the slice. I've had their buffalo chicken, pepperoni & sausage, and cheese. The buffalo chicken has great flavor with the buffalo and ranch sauce. Their crust is also above average. The staff is very nice and genuine. Also had a cannoli and it was the best I've had in charleston.

If you're on the run and craving a slice but need to get it quick, this is the perfect place. Choose a slice from their always changing counter. They pop it in an oven real quick and 2 minutes later, you're walking out with a slice to go. The service is quick and the people are very pleasant here. Definitely better pizza places around, but you can't hate on this place.

We stopped in Slice to grab a few pieces too go. It took a while to heat up the slices but they were stil cold when we got them. So we warmed them in the oven at home :( The Chicken Ranch pizza was very dry and the other slices were just okay. I want to try delivery. I think that it will be a lot better fresh. I'll keep you posted!

Okay, so admittedly, I'm a pizza snob. Originally from New Jersey, I know what I like and what passes for NY pizza and frankly, what doesn't. I made a point of reading a bunch of Yelp reviews yesterday, hoping Yelpers would lead me to the perfect pie. But I lazed out by 6:30 after a long day and decided to just stop and order from a pizza shop on the way home. I'd heard of Slice, but hadn't heard any real reviews from people I knew, so I bypassed the regular spots and drove in. I cannot believe this place is not busier. The pizza was awesome - a Margherita pizza and I added meatballs - seriously awesome. What was even better than the pizza was the personal attention the owner gave me when I placed the order. And then because I had to wait for it, I was able to watch them prepping to-go orders - pastas, etc - behind the line. Very clean, very detailed, very professional. I literally watched care go into everything they were packaging. It was impressive because i dine out A LOT and I cannot always say that i see this or really ever get a feel for it. I highly recommend Slice. You'll not only enjoy the pizza, but you will be taken care of by the staff.

I want to give this place 3.5 but since we can't, and it was just my first visit, 3 it is. Mom had heard that this was one of the best pizza places in the Mt Pleasant/IOP area and wanted to try it last week. In a good little spot in one of the busier shopping centers that dot the landscape in these Charleston boroughs, we were eager to try. Especially since Slice delivers out to Wild Dunes (which is past IOP, past Sullivan's Island, all the way to the end of the beach neighborhoods and such is a rarity). Solid stuff. We both got a slice with pesto, ricotta and mozz. She added tomatoes. Liked it so much she also ate half my piece. Go figure how the woman stays slim. Anyway, the manager on duty was nice and helpful; also running things herself even putting pizzas in and out of the oven, on an early afternoon during a big vacation week (they weren't that busy but definitely could have been at that kind of time!). Not the truest Neopolitan style (a la Antico) and definitely not of the famous NY style, pretty darn good for this area! The menu has a bunch of stuff I would try, and I would get that pizza again - from pastas to hot sandwiches there are some basic and some more adventurous selections. The salads are pretty much what you'd expect from a casual pizza place. Good spot in the MP 'hood.

Only ate thr because deli next to it was closed, won't go back! Sign says under new management, I can't imagine what it must have been like before. Ordered house salad, minestrone soup and a panini. Salad served in few minutes, 15 mins later I had to ask about soup, 'it's being made fresh' really minestrone? Whatever, 5 mins later soup arrives blistering hot, huge chunks of veg like in not able to fit on spoon, even whole green beans! Was this last night's veggies? The broth was bland & tasteless! 5 mins later the panini arrived, it wasn't bad but a little greasy. We couldn't eat the soup, it was that bad! Walked up to counter to pay, I told the guy we didn't like soup n didn't want to pay for it. He starts this terrible attitude and says 'what's wrong with it' not I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. So I told him, bland, tasteless, oversized unappealing veg, etc! Then the eye rolls and attitude get worse! He proceeds to click dozens of buttons w/ mouse (touch screen broken?) That was an awkward few mins of his glaring stares. Good luck to new owner, but I WON'T BE BACK!

I have now dined in at slice and had delivery from there. They are the real deal and I agree with JR about this being spot-on Jersey pizza. The dough reminds me of every place I had pizza on Washington Ave in Hoboken. The slices are thin and and crispy... like pizza should be. I have tried and enjoyed the pepperoni, buffalo chicken, and the chicken Parmesan. My only suggestion is that they add blue cheese crumble to the buffalo one. I had a Meatball Roll the other night and it was stuffed with the toppings, no skimping on the good cheeses here. It was full of ricotta and mozzarella. If you still have room (we split one), try the Pasta Fagioli. That soup packs a jersey size punch of flavor.

Needing some quick sustenance before a wedding I was attending in South Carolina, my boyfriend and I stumbled across Slice Pizzeria which was conveniently located in the same shopping center as the Comfort Suites hotel we were staying at. We walked in and our mouths immediately started drooling by the array of pizzas they were selling by the slice. In addition, they also served a full made to order menu that included hot sandwiches, wings, paninis, salads, seafood entrees and more! And they were not advertising some lame ass wimpy Ceasar salad either....think more of the goat cheese and roasted beet variety. Yum! Since we were in a hurry we each chose a slice of their square cut pepperoni deep dish pizza. The server heated it up so the dough was crispy on the outside and buttery warm and soft on the inside. The pepperoni was also crispy on the edges which is my favorite way to eat! This was perfection. It was about a bazillion times better than Sbarros (and I'm a girl who loves mall pizza!). The next time I have more than 24 hours to spend at the beach, I'll definitely be making a quick stop!

After living in Charleston for 2 years and searching for great pizza we found slice. Great pizza comparable to my favorite NJ pizza. Staff is always friendly. Sometimes the wait is long on a weekend night, but it is worth it. Edited review: You are never open. Machine says construction or vacation until a certain date and weeks later you are still closed with the same message. This has happened numerous times within the past month. Due to this we will no longer support your business or recommend it to friends like we had been doing.

Thank God for this place. As New Jersey transplants to the Lowcountry, we were missing good pizza almost more than we were missing our family. They definitely nail the NY-style pizza perfectly, which makes sense since they are actually from the same town that we came from in NJ! Small world. GREAT pizza.

One of my favorite places in Mt. Pleasant for pizza. Dine in, huge slices, good selection and thin and crispy. Delicious. My only gripe is they are not always open. I have gone there a few times for lunch and they were closed. Hopefully, they will be more consistent and we can eat more of their delicious pizza.

Visiting charleston and looking for a quick and easy bite with my nephews. Key to this review...with my nephews. It's hard to find a place that is delicious and easy to accommodate kids. Slice is that place. Especially if Nicole is working. She was friendly, helpful, engaging with the kids and did all the little things to make a visit easy. Great food great people great place. If I lived here Id be a regular.

Best pizza in Mount Pleasant!! Delicious!! We eat pizza at least once or twice a week and this place is the best! The dough is so good you will eat all of the crust!! The white pizza and buffalo chicken pizza are awesome too!

I lived in NY and NJ so I can give a fair review when someone claims to have NY style pizza, which brings certain expectations. Food: Served warm, not hot, and all of it was bland and dry with barely any flavor at all. We had the Ricotta slice and a chicken/bacon/ranch slice piled high (nice!) with ingredients, we also had garlic knots as a side. Unfortunately, all of it had no flavor. My wife even pushed away the marinara dipping sauce for the knots. I really question the freshness of the ingredients, and they don't even have fresh brewed tea! This is the south, come on now! Service: The service is just weird, they are very friendly employees, and I have no complaints about the staff. However this is one of those places that should be fast dining but they insist on semi-waiting the tables and you pay when you are done eating. This strange setup just creates confusion. For instance, after you wait in line to order they tell you that you can help yourself to drinks at a drink station that looks designed for a waiter to use, pitchers of water on towels and a cooler of ice that isn't marked as such. Okay. Then you sit down and they bring you the food (again served too quickly and not warm enough), you eat and you sort of figure out that you walk up to the front to pay but it is not clear. Am I supposed to tip? It is confusing. Price/Atmosphere: 3 slices of pizza and garlic knots for 15 bucks, which is not a good price. It's a small place which is fine, if there is a line then you may have people standing right behind your chair while they order which might bother you, but really it is no big deal and it matches real NYC pizza places. Overall: Raise your pizza standards higher people! I'd recommend Grimalidi's (no I don't work for them) as a better option if you are looking for NY style pizza.

AT LONG LAST. These guys are from Red Bank, NJ, just a few exits north on the Parkway where I grew up. Excellent, excellent pizza. Praise Jebus!!!

This place is absolutely legit Jersey-style pizza. It's not Brooklyn/NY style, it's Jersey style. This is what I grew up eating, and I've been without it for since I moved to Philly for college. I've been to about a dozen pizza places in the Charleston area so far, and none of them are even close to how good this pizza is. We spoke to the guy that runs the joint, and he's from Red Bank, a few towns north of where I grew up, and they even have a couple locations still in the Monmouth County area, in Little Silver and Middletown, I think. The pizza has the right sauce, the right cheese, the right crust. Do yourself a favor - skip Andolini's and all the other crappy pizza joints in the area, and go eat this. You'll learn what REAL pizza is. Oh, their antipasto salad is pretty legit, too, though I could have gone for a bit less prosciutto and more roasted veggies.

The pizza was pretty good, not amazing though. We had a large half buffalo chicken and half barbecue chicken. I was happy with both but I'd give the edge to the buffalo chicken since I have a slight buffalo sauce addiction that entails me to dip pretty much anything in it. I plan to try Slice again but I definitely see myself doing to go orders instead of sitting inside. And here's why. The service. This is a small enough place that there really shouldn't be a reason for bad service. What I thought would be a quick in and out in under an hour dinner session seemed to last forever. Our server started off pretty good but finished poorly. We sat there with our plates cleared for an abnormally long time. The kicker is that the place is so small, he passed our table several times with no acknowledgement. We were totally giving the "we're ready to go" vibe to no avail. A table that sat after us and got their food boxed up after ours was boxed, got their check and they were out the door way before us. Then when we finally got the check, he wouldn't come pick it up. I eventually had to get up and go to the counter to pay. No bueno. The pizza was good enough to warrant a return visit and I look forward to trying other stuff on the menu, which is quite extensive. I'll probably try a wrap next time because some of them sounded pretty amazing. But I'll be enjoying my food at my place where I'll get really great service and I don't even have to tip.

What a pizza should be. The only place we found in lowcountry that can honestly claim NY style pizza, although owner is from NJ. Close enough ;).

The worst pizza place in town. Just got our first delivery from Slice. White pizza, Tuscan steak salad and a side of meatballs. The white pizza was SOUR it tasted like the cheese was rotten. We couldn't finish one slice, disgusting. 2 pieces of steak on the salad. The side of meatballs, 2 meatballs the size of a golf ball for $4.25. I called. The manger literally laughed in the phone and said "That is just how it is" and hung up. Worst pizza place in town!!

Recently one of the members of the Slice Pizzeria team reached out to me to invite me to their new restaurant on Hungry Neck Boulevard. On a busy Friday we decided to stop by and see if they were as good as they claimed to be. Located next to the restaurant Mosaic, this is a tiny, shotgun of a restaurant. A long, white banquette lines the wall with 2- and 4- tops and there are a few booths. It looked like the total capacity was roughly 25 people. In a way it reminded me of a Sbarro at an airport. A lot of pizzas displayed to be heated, garlic knots also in line to make a visit to the double deck ovens, and quite frankly, even though the place was very clean, it was not inviting. I had asked the gentleman that waited on us if Slice was a chain. He told me that they were a group from New Jersey and that they also had a location in Savannah. For a tiny place they offer a variety of things. Appetizers (mozzarella sticks, wings, chicken wings, the usual suspects), salads from a house salad to a fried calamari and mozzarella fantasia - fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomatoes and roasted peppers were quite a mix! The side orders - meatballs to sautéed spinach and broccoli, I was sensing that the Slice Pizzeria didn't know what they wanted to be. Specialty pizzas were elaborate. They offer 18 in all ranging from a ricotta (white) pizza to a carbonara with prosciutto, onions, heavy cream and cheese. There were pastas (Alfredo, Bolognese, etc.), and baked pastas, (baked ziti, lasagna, ravioli) and topping it all off were the seafood specialties (fried calamari, shrimp scampi and fra diavlo), and entrees that include chicken parmesan to veal piccatta. Oh, and did I mention the wraps, hot and cold subs and Panini? It's interesting... All of these items are listed in their take out menu but not in the restaurant. The restaurant however only posted Panini's, pizzas, hot and cold subs a few appetizers and salads - very confusing. In a bit of a rush we ordered two slices of pizza, one with pepperoni and one with bacon and chicken. We also spit a house salad (iceberg, tomatoes, cukes, green bell pepper, 5 black olives, croutons and the dressing of our choice which I thought at $9.95 was beyond steep in price. We split a diet coke and our bill totaled $21.00. For what we received (2 slices, one salad and a coke), I thought it was a bit over priced. Although the restaurant was more than over staffed with about 6-8 people behind the counter which was equal to the number of customers, service was spotty. Our slices arrived very quickly. They are oversized with heaping toppings, but despite the amount of toppings, they were bland at best. They lack salt, pepper, oregano, anything... to spice it up. Although the crust was very thin, it was also very doughy. So for the pizza our rating is bland and doughy. The bacon on the bacon chicken pizza overpowered the slice... Thank goodness my husband loves bacon. Oh, you're probably wondering why the salad hasn't been mentioned. We called it the dessert salad since it arrived just about the time we were done with our pizza. The "homemade" Italian dressing looked a lot like French and mirrored the pizza in its lack of flavor. Grimaldi's, Almalfi's and La Pizzeria all offer pretty good pizza. Although everyone thinks they can easily produce good pizza, our experience today proves otherwise.

Waited almost 80 minutes for delivery, on a Thursday evening. $30 for one appetizer, one pasta dish, one dessert. $5 for a measly 2 meatballs. Penne vodka wasn't even mediocre. Very disappointed.

I live nearby and was excited to try this place when it opened. But I was severely disappointed... The pizza was extremely bland and greasy. Maybe that's what some people like, but I prefer fresh ingredients, full of flavor (EVO in N. Charleston does this perfectly). But what's worse than that is the service, honestly I'm surprised this place is still open. The first time I tried them I ordered delivery. Mind you I live less than a mile away, and they said it would be an hour. Well, 2.5 hours later my pizzas arrive cold and soggy. They were new then and I chalked it up to that and about a month later try them again, but this time for pick up. When I arrived I had to wait for 20 min even though I was there when they said it would be ready. When I got home the one of the pizzas were wrong.... Strike two. So I called and they acted like I was just a huge inconvenience because they messed up... Strike 3. If you like bland, greasy, mall pizza served up with a bad attitude you'll love this place. Otherwise try one of the many other great places on Mt. P

I heard great things about this place and really was hopeful based on the reviews. I called them at 5:30 PM on a Friday and asked if they delivered to Dunes West and they said that they did, but would take about an hour and twenty minutes. I was cool with that. I ordered a large pie and side of garlic knots. At 7:15 ( hour and 45 minutes later) they still hadn't arrived so I called to check. The girl on the phone was cool, apologized and said my order had left about 15 minutes earlier and should be arriving soon. 8:00 came and still know love, so I called again. The manager came on the phone and apologized and said his guys car broke down and that they were making a new order and it was just about to leave. So I asked him if he was going to do anything for me since we were now at 2 1/2 hours, he put me on hold for about 2 minutes and came back on and said it would be comped and basically hung up on me. 30 minutes later, now at 3 hours, my doorbell rings and the driver hands me a cold pizza box with what appeared to be the original pizza made more than 2 hours earlier and no garlic knots. I asked the guy if he was serious and he said he was sorry and turned around and left. I can't believe that was the type of customer service they provided. I called back in and asked for the manager if this is their way idea of customer service, this time got my third different person and he didn't appear to have any clue that any of this happened and seemed mortified. I was totally open to giving them another shot, I realize how crazy things can get, especially on Friday. He took my number and said they would call me back. Never heard a thing from them. We reheated the pizza and it was pretty good, but with customer service like that, I doubt we will ever try them again. Maybe the service in the restaurant is better. When are restaurants going to realize customer service is their #1 priory. I wish them luck.

I haven't found very many pizza places in the greater Charleston that I have truly loved...that is until now. Upon walking in I was greeted by a very friendly staff member who highly recommended theor chicken bacon ranch pizza. Whenever I go into a new location I always judge their pizza by having a plain cheese slice... both were phenomenal. Two slices of their gourmet slices (multiple toppings) runs close to $7 but they are very large and fill me up nicely (and I'm pretty much a fat kid so that says a lot). I have started to try some of their other pies as well...buffalo chicken was good, tomato and mozzerela was exceptional.

Service was friendly, food was quick (only people in there when we sat down). They had some pies up front and full, extensive menus on the table. Items looked good but a tad higher than I expected. I am from dallas though maybe it's a higher standard of living out there. Its a fine place but id search elsewhere for "that place" or even, simply, a better place.

Had a slice @ Slice for lunch. Noticed a cool menu. Call for dinner delivery. It was delivered as promised: less than:45. Hot and delicious. (Not my wife's or grandmothers - just for the record) Chicken Piccata & Veal Parmigiana; both with salad & bread. Reasonably priced. I'm good.

Authentic Jersey Pizza. Very good food and I'm Italian American. Get a fresh pizza made and take the rest home! Soups and Salads available. Very casual. Desserts and daily specials. Pasta, Chicken, Beef.

Unfortunately we thought for way too long that this was only a pizza place. We ordered carry out last week and got the Vodka Sauce and Bolognaise. FANTASTIC!!! We are always looking for another option for Italian and this is a great one!! Though I did not dine in, the staff was extremely helpful and nice. Will definitely be back for more!!

My room mate and I ordered out from here on Monday. The cheese sticks tasted out of a bag and the pizza was mediocre. I do not recommend Slice Pizza in Mt Pleasant.

  • Corey E.

I am from New York and New Jersey, so I am sure everyone hates me now. However: I know what good Italian food tastes like. This is total garbage. The meatballs are all ground beef with no seasoning and we couldn't get through one of them. The Margherita Pizza was edible but there was nothing that made me actually enjoy it. The Chicken Caesar Salad was hot and soggy and absolutely repulsive. We took a chance on trying something new, we took a chance on not ordering Matts, we took a chance and that normally works out in Charleston....not this time. OOhh by the way the garlic cheese knots are amazing!

I have had their NY pie twice in the last week, it is very good. I think it will give all the other so called NY pizza places " a run for their money". Highly recommend the pizza, I have not tried anything else yet.

I just finished eating a slice of their Sicilian pie. I ordered it slightly undercooked as I didn't want the thick crust to dry out upon reheating. Anyway, it was scrumptious! I felt I was back home in NY. Enjoy!!!

  • Mister F.

Gave the margherita pie and a slice of the white pie a shot. Very impressed. I'm from NY and it was very close the NY pizza, the sauce was nice and fresh with aromatic basil and a nice dose of garlic, the crust was thin but not too thin. Some of the best pizza I've had in the South so far. Friendly staff, we'll be back.

  • Holly G.

I've only had the pizza so far, but have to say that it was fantastic. The chef is from Napoli and then spent some time working in restaurants in NY/NJ before moving here. He is legit. Try the grandma pie - he said it is one that his grandma used to make and it didn't disappoint. Being a pizza snob from NJ myself, I am thrilled that this place is now here in Mount Pleasant and look forward to many trips back to try their other dishes.

Inconsistent at best. Several deliveries that came as if somebody took a shower with the meal. Way too pricey for crappy food. Try a crappy but consistent chain.

i went last night in the pouring rain after a few beers at king street grille. i wanted to give a slice of cheese pizza a shot. they warmed the pizza up, then told me that their 3.00 slice of cheese required a 5.00 $ minimum. the main guy there asked me if that was a problem, so i had to leave on principle. if you want locals to try your crap, dont be such jerks. overall, ill never go back based on that and will rip them a new one whenever possible.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
